Iconic Compliance
You instinctively know what an iconic symbol represents, and that’s the idea behind our Iconic Compliance model. By providing a standardized system of icons that are recognizable at a glance, CMP.LY makes it easy for companies to communicate disclosures and easy for consumers to understand them. Using CMP.LY to communicate legal language and other “fine print” allows readers to easily understand the context of certain messages and access important information relevant to that content.
The Importance of Disclosures in Social Media
As sponsored content and marketing messages are more seamlessly integrated with influencer profiles and individual messages, the importance of disclosure has grown rapidly. The sponsorship of videos, Tweets, blog posts, and other updates on the social web is becoming more popular among brands, with influencers on both large and small scales being employed to spread marketing messages across a broad spectrum of topics.
Disclosures must be clear, conspicuous, and relevant within the context of these communication channels and within the devices we use to access them. The limitations of social communication platforms, including character restrictions, small screen sizes, and device capabilities, present challenges in terms of creating disclosures that are clearly visible, or able to be included in messages at all. But these limitations do not exempt companies or individuals from disclosure requirements on social media platforms.
